Fleet Mechanic

POSITION SUMMARY

Under general supervision, maintains diagnoses and repairs a variety of heavy construction equipment. Responsible for ensuring duties are performed in a safe, efficient and effective manner.

Under general supervision, maintains diagnoses and repairs a variety of heavy construction equipment. Responsible for ensuring duties are performed in a safe, efficient and effective manner

Responsibilities included but not limited to: 

  • Comply with (and actively promote) all Safety policies and procedures including reporting all accidents, incidents and near misses to ensure adherence to our Number One Core Value – Safety, first in everything we do.
  • Always use proper PPE around the shop and when working on equipment
  • Perform routine maintenance on construction equipment, such as DOT trucks/Mixers, graders, dozers, loaders, pumps, compressors, tools etc..
  • Accurately record time, inventory, and inspection checklist using computer system
  • Able to diagnose problems by using electronic technician (Cat ET), Cummings Insite and Mack Tech Tool
  • Must be able to read, understand and follow directions on all equipment manuals
  • Performs preventive maintenance on fleet vehicles and equipment routinely as needed
  • Some minor welding
  • Responsible for filling out daily work orders with details and accuracy
  • Responsible for turning in approved parts request forms
  • Field service repairs on as needed basis
  • Responsible for keeping clean and safe work area
  • Performs other related duties as assigned 

Necessary Attributes: 

  • Must have a minimum of (5) years of experience working on trucks and large/small construction equipment. Also, work independently
  • Must have own tools and possess valid driver’s license CDL a plus
  • Must possess the ability to adapt to different personalities and management styles.
  • Team player with good interpersonal skills, self-starter, good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Dedicated, dependable and hard working.
  • Must have the ability to meet deadlines on set schedules
  • Ability to work and adapt to flexible schedules
