Middlesex was responsible for the removal of roadside infrastructure, six toll plaza administrative and utility buildings, toll booths, gantries, canopies, access tunnels, parking lots, and access drives no longer needed following the implementation of the I-90 All Electronic Tolling System at six plazas: Plaza 3 (Westfield), Plaza 4 (West Springfield), Plaza 5 (Chicopee), Plaza 6 (Chicopee), Plaza 7 (Ludlow) and Plaza 8 (Palmer). Included the reconfiguration of old ramps to accommodate new traffic flow. Work was accomplished under an extremely accelerated schedule.
