Earns Award in Transportation-Structures category

Littleton, MA — The Middlesex Corporation has been named a recipient of a 2024 Annual Design-Build Project Award by the Design-Build Institute of America-Florida Region (DBIA-FL, www.fldbia.org) for its I-75 (SR93) at Overpass Road Interchange project.  The project was recognized by the industry agency in its Transportation-Structure category.  The Florida Department of Transportation created the I-75 (SR93) project, and its execution was a collaboration of Middlesex Corporation and Consor Inc. (formally American Consulting Professionals).

The I-75 at Overpass Road Interchange Project is located on the northern boundary of Wesley Chapel in Pasco County, FL. The project included the design and construction of a new interchange at the intersection of Overpass Road and I-75 (SR 93). The primary scope of work was the construction of a new Category 2 flyover bridge to carry westbound Overpass Road traffic to southbound I-75. Additional scope included the replacement of the existing four (4) span bridge over I-75, widening of Overpass Road, new ramp construction, unsuitable subsoil excavation, drainage systems, MSE walls, signage, lighting, signalization, and ITS modifications.

“Middlesex has developed a strong and long working partnership with Consor, and we were able to, once again, bring our individual strengths together and produce an end-product that exceeded expectations of the client/owner, and also made a significant positive impact to the growing community,” said Neil Mulrooney, SVP Construction at Middlesex Corporation.  “It’s an added bonus that our efforts are recognized by industry experts at DBIA-FL.”

Winners will be formally announced at DBIA-FL’s annual conference held at the Sheraton Sand Key Resort, Clearwater Beach, FL, October 23-25, 2024.  With 50+ years in business, Middlesex is consistently recognized for its project work as it relates to design and safety.
