Littleton, MA — For the design-build project work on I-75 at Overpass Road Interchange in Pasco County, FL, the Florida Transportation Builders’ Association (FTBA) presented its “Best in Construction – Interchange” award to The Middlesex Corporation.

The project, owned and developed by Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), constructed a new interstate interchange on I-75 at Overpass Road, approximately 3.5 miles south of SR 52 in Pasco County. The project broke ground August 2020 and was completed May 2023.

The project consisted of replacing the existing two-lane Overpass Road bridge at I-75 with a new diamond interchange with a flyover, widening Overpass Road to accommodate for the expected increases in traffic volume, and pedestrian/bicycle features. At project closure the interchange became a hub of transportation activity providing full ramp access to I-75, including a major flyover for westbound Overpass Road to southbound I-75 movement. The activation of the interchange provides instant relief to adjacent interchanges at SR56 and SR52 which were both operating near capacity. The new interchange will also be a catalyst for booming growth in west Pasco County, FL.

Middlesex partnered with American Consulting Professionals, LLC on structural and civil engineering expertise, Tierra, Inc. for geotechnical and environmental engineering insight and VIBE Engineering Incorporated for traffic engineering.

“It’s an honor to be recognized by a respected industry institution for a project that makes a positive impact to the surrounding communities as well as the southeast region of Florida,” said Jim Reardon, Vice President, Alternative Delivery at The Middlesex Corporation. “Our team collaborated with strong partners to deliver a solid end product to FDOT on time and on budget.”
