Littleton, MA — The Florida Transportation Builders’ Association (FTBA) announced that The Middlesex Corporation has won its 2023 FTBA Safety Excellence award.
The award is tiered based on total employee hours and focuses on specific quantitative safety metrics such as Total Recordable Incident Rate (TRIR) and Days Away Restricted or Transferred (DART), as well as qualitative aspects that include company testimonials, employee engagement, and best practices.
A panel of judges, selected by the FTBA Safety Committee, is comprised of Florida-based representatives in the areas of contracting, engineering, risk, and insurance. The panel assesses and evaluates all metrics as a part of the decision-making process.
“Safety is a core priority at Middlesex. It’s something that we focus on for all team members, clients, and aspects of our projects, regardless of size,” said Dave Socci, Senior Vice President at Middlesex. “While it is a part of our corporate fabric, it supports and reaffirms our commitment to it when receiving industry recognition from respected industry experts such as CCIA.”
Over the course of each calendar year, Middlesex deploys multiple communication outreach to its teams to foster and maintain the importance of safety. These include daily project huddles, focused Learning & Development training courses, weekly safety-based statistic notifications, HSE policy and procedure updates, and annual organization-wide safety meetings.
