I-75 at Florida’s Turnpike – Wildwood Interchange Design-Build

Wildwood FL
Florida Department of Transportation – Florida’s Turnpike Enterprise

A substantial portion of Florida’s commercial trucking traffic passes trough this I-75/Florida’s Turnpike interchange.

The new mainline interchange and ramp system to/from SR 44 significantly improved traffic flow and safety.

The main objective of this project was to remove excessive weaving conditions and improve traffic flow between I-75 and Florida’s Turnpike. Both roadways were widened and the ramp system reconfigured which provides the NB and SB I-75 with an additional lane of travel and increased capacity and allowed the ramp from SR 44 to I-75 SB to create a dedicated right lane that carries traffic, via a flyover bridge, to the Turnpike SB. The team constructed two new multi-span bridges supported by a combination of piers and post tensioned straddle bents.

A system of braided ramps provides access between both I-75 and the Turnpike to/from SR 44 and auxiliary lanes were constructed on I-75 to the north of SR 44.
