Minneola Interchange N. Hancock Extension Design-Build

Lake County, FL
Florida Department of Transportation – Florida’s Turnpike Enterprise

This project continues Middlesex’s long history of successfully delivering projects for FDOT/FTE. Middlesex fully embraced FDOT/FTE’s customer satisfaction philisophy for tolled roadways, work was completed with only minimal impacts scheduled and publicized well in advance.

Middlesex supports the increasing development in the Minneola area and this project provides a partial clover leaf interchange, at mile post 279 of SR 91 (Turnpike), with Hancock Road.

Hancock Road was extended from its terminus about 3/4 mile to the south to 561A to the north under three separate contracts, the one mile long middle section was included with the interchange contract. Signalized intersections control traffic at three of the ramps.

A two-span bridge carries Hancock Road over SR 91. Tolling facilities were constructed on Ramps A & B and tied into the existing SunPass tolling system. To avoid lengthy detours during bridge construction, ramps were constructed in advance and used to divert traffic during bridge erection. The design provided for the future eight-lane SR 91 widening.
