Pearl Harbor Memorial (Q) Bridge Contract B1
New Haven, CT
Connecticut Department of Transportation
Contract B1 was the first of two contracts to replace the I-95 crossing of New Haven Harbor
This advance contract included those portions of the Q-Bridge that could be constructed off line thereby minimizing impacts to interstate traffic. Foundation work included the four main span river piers for the extradosed cable-stayed portion of the Q-Bridge. The bridges that formed the easterly approach moving traffic from Rt. 34 EB, I-91 SB and Wooster ST., on to the mainline I-95 segments that would ultimately connect to the new Q-Bridge were included in the scope. Hamilton St., East St., Water St., Forbes Ave., and Waterfront St. were all reconstructed. Trestle constructed for the main span foundation work were turned over to the follow on contractor for the remaining work.
