Middlesex recieved both the highest qualifications phase and technical phase scores from FDOT for this design-build project, reinforcing the strong working relationship with FDOT. Continually striving to add value for our clients, twenty one alternative technicals were submitted and thirteen were approved.

The second phase of the Central Florida Commuter Rail Transit System, SunRail, extends service from the Sand Lake Road Station in Orlando to the Poinciana Station in Poinciana. The project is turn-key, including stations, communication systems, bridge reconstruction, drainage, and signal upgrades. A Vehicle Storage and Light Maintenance Facility (VSLMF) was also included.

The new line crosses three waterways requiring construction or reconstruction of rail bridges.
