SR 91 at I-4 SR 400 Interchange Improvements

Florida Department of Transportation

The Turnpike Mainline/I-4 Interchange provides for the movement of tens of thousands of vehicles per day, connecting these two major transportation corridors in the heart of central Florida.

The Middlesex Corporation’s Design-Build Team designed and constructed the widening of Exit Ramp K, Entry Ramp A, and Exit Ramp C all to two lanes. This included the construction of a new bridge for the new Ramp C alignment, parallel to the existing bridge that has carried both Ramp A and Ramp C traffic in single lanes since originally constructed.

The new bridge contains 3 spans of approximately 104’, 99’, and 94’ and accommodates 2 13’-6” wide lanes, a 6’ inside shoulder, and a 10’ outside shoulder. The span configuration accommodates the full Turnpike Typical Section while adding an additional span to bridge the Florida Gas Transmission line.
